Sixty native English-speaking teachers from six nations, including the U.S. and South Africa, visit Ulleungdo and Dokdo Islands in Gyeongsangbuk-do
Gyeongsangbuk-do (governor: Kim Gwan-yong) announced that on August 18-20, 60 native English-speaking teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools in Gyeongsangbuk-do visited Dokdo, the easternmost islands of South Korea.
er the Dokdo Visit event hosted by Gyeongsangbuk-do and managed by Handong Global University, native English-speaking teachers from Gyeongsangbuk-do were given an opportunity to experience the beautiful natural views and culture of Ulleungdo and Dokdo Islands, and to better erstand the islands as part of South Koreas territory. The event began in 2009 and marks its 6th anniversary this year.
From the total of 378 native English-speaking teachers in the province, 60 were ed to join the Dokdo Visit event.
In addition to visiting Dokdo, the 60 native English-speaking teachers from six nations, including the U.S. and South Africa, who were chosen to be part of the event were given opportunities to walk along Do-dong-Jeodonghae Ansan Promenade, to visit Naesujeon Watch Tower, and to observe Ulleungdos geography and ecosystems. They also visited Dokdo Museum and An Yong-boks Memorial. At the end of the event, all the participants ed with certainty that Dokdo is part of South Koreas territory.
